From Sunday to Monday, 1,429 new Corona infections were registered in Austria. Compared to the previous week (1,120 cases), this is 309 cases more. Although this is below the average of the past seven days (1,491), it is the highest Monday value since the end of April.
There are also eight new deaths related to Covid 19 infection to report, bringing the pandemic death toll in Austria to 10,801 so far. The number of active cases drops to 17,087. The seven-day incidence is 117.22.
There are currently 579 people in Austria’s hospitals related to covid disease, up 31 from the previous day. 170 patients are in an intensive care unit – that is 15 more than the day before.
In the past 24 hours, 22,854 PCR tests have been performed, with a positive rate of 2.65 percent.
Meanwhile, the vaccination campaign continues to falter. On Sunday, only 1,945 immunizations were administered across Austria, with only one at all in Vorarlberg and two in Salzburg. This was the weakest vaccination day since January 31; on that Sunday, 1,428 vaccinations had been administered.
In total, 5,540,156 people have already received at least one partial vaccination, according to the E-vaccination passport data: That’s 62 percent of the population. 5,243,513, or 58.7 percent of Austrians, are already fully immunized.
